Views is a points reward program much like Airmiles, Optimum, or Scene, except it’s a rewards program that is based on tourism. Tourists (and locals wishing to explore and appreciate their own backyard) can download a free app and collect points by visiting points of interest across Canada. These POIs include historic sites, national parks,visitor centres, museums, hiking trails, and famous locations. When one visits these locations, they can use their app to scan a post/sign with a programmed RFID tag inside/attached to it. The app will recognize every unique tag scanned and attribute a certain amount of points to your personal account. These points can be used to receive discounts from local businesses in the nearby town, city, or province in general; these businesses can be restaurants, motels, B&Bs, and gift shops.This tourism rewards program aims to increase tourism attraction and activity in various cities & provinces, drive spending in the local business sector, boost the economy and help travelers discover all the treasures this country has to offer. If this system works here in the province, it could work in other provinces across the entire country, strengthening the tourism industry.
The home page gives the user all the essential info they need to know regarding their points. Their points total is in a large font near the top of the screen as it is the most important element of the screen and the main idea behind Views. The user's most recent scan locations are also available in case they would like to review and read more about where they've been.
The rewards section is the heart of the app. After collecting enough points, users can visit the rewards section to browse discount codes offered by many different local businesses such as restaurants, coffee shops, bars, tours, etc.
Users can use the map to check where scan posts are located, how many points they can acquire from each location, as well as see where they have visited.
Users can edit their account and change their payment information.
